I AM EXCITED ABOUT MISSIONS!

culturePeople ask us why we call the first Sunday of every month “Missions Sunday.” Here are a few thoughts:

  1. It helps us put the emphasis on spiritual and eternal things.
  2. We want to begin our month with missionary giving and remembering the poor.
  3. It forces us to break out of our selfish worlds. Four billion of the 7 plus billion people in the world live on about $2 USD per day. That is a good reminder in hard times you are still blessed.
  4. Giving to missions helps us keep our priorities in balance.
  5. A read of a great missionary who said, “If you keep giving me the rope, I will keep going down into the pit.” SO LET’S KEEP GIVING CHRISTIAN WORKERS AROUND THE WORLD THE ROPE!

By the way… we just had teams get back from El Salvador and England…the reports are amazing. I really do believe that every single follower of Jesus should go on a foreign missions trip as least one time in their lives. Trust me, it will forever impact the way you live and view life…and I know from personal experience that Jesus has unlocked some things in my life that I would have never discovered about Him, the church, the world and people that I would have never seen if I had been more obsessed with my comfort rather than His commands! (See Mark 16:15 & Acts 1:8)
